Crusaders Drop Tight Meet with Cleveland State 110-95

The Valparaiso women's swim team lost its final home meet of the year on Saturday afternoon, 110-95 to Cleveland State at the Athletics-Recreation Center pool.

Ashley Seale (Maryville, Tenn./Maryville H.S.) registered Valpo's first victory of the meet in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:20.49, just .18 ahead of the Vikings.

Britt Nelson (Cortland, N.Y./Homer H.S.) then recorded a victory for the Brown and Gold in the 500 freestyle. The freshman finished in 5:19.40, just outtouching her competitor from Cleveland State by .11 seconds.

Valpo also recorded a victory in the final event of the meet. The 400 free relay of Daniella Trombatore (Redding, Calif./Shasta H.S.), Seale, Nelson, and Leah Schneider (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead H.S.) won by more than a second with a time of 1:44.21.

The Crusaders finished their dual meet season with a 4-10 mark and will take next weekend off before returning to the pool on Feb. 20-22 for the Midwest Classic Championships to be held in Indianapolis on the campus of IUPUI.
