Valparaiso’s women’s tennis team wrapped up their first fall tournament of the season on Saturday afternoon at the River Forest Tennis Club in River Forest, Ill.
Brittany O’Reilly (Green Bay, Wis./Southwest H.S.) earned Valpo’s lone singles win of the day, rallying from a set down to defeat Sami Iwen of Green Bay 3-6, 6-1, 12-10.
The Crusaders fell in straight sets in each of the other singles contests on day two of the tournament.
In doubles action, Megan Barthals (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic Central H.S.) and Stephanie York (Elkhart, Ind./Jimtown H.S.) dropped an 8-4 match to Grand Valley State at number one while Kaitlyn Hamel (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain H.S.) and Michele Fredlake (South Bend, Ind./Saint Joseph’s H.S.) suffered a setback by the same score at two against SIU Edwardsville. O’Reilly and Kristin Zakiewicz (Bristol, Ind./Northridge H.S.) fell 8-3 at third doubles against Green Bay.
Valparaiso will return to action Sept. 27 with a home dual match against Saint Joseph’s. (Ind.). First serve is set for 4 p.m. at the Valpo Tennis Complex.
