Valparaiso swept the six single matches and also won two doubles matches on the way to defeating Lake Superior 8-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Mara Sonkin (Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South H.S.) was a 6-1, 7-5 victor at the top spot, while Monika Danko (Northfield, Ill./New Trier H.S.) won a super tie-break to post a 6-1, 5-7, 10-6 victory at second singles. Christina Scala (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South H.S.) won 6-4, 6-1 at third singles and Jill Dierberg (St. Louis, Mo./Lutheran South H.S.) posted a 6-1, 6-1 win playing fourth in the line-up. Patricia Arakaki (Campo Grande, Brazil/LaPorte H.S., Ind.) won 6-2, 6-2 at fifth singles and Charmane Stanislaw (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville H.S.) rounded out the line-up with a 6-0, 6-1 win.

Danko and Scala also teamed for an 8-3 win at first doubles, while Sonkin and Arakaki posted an 8-4 win in the second slot.

Valpo will return to action on Monday afternoon when they host Olivet Nazarene in a 3 p.m. match.
