Valparaiso’s women’s tennis team wrapped up its 2010 season on Sunday afternoon, suffering a 7-0 loss to Butler at the Valpo Tennis Complex.
Butler (10-11, 5-3 Horizon) opened the match winning all three doubles contests. Molly Casperson and Becky Jenkins defeated Brittany O’Reilly (Green Bay, Wis./South West H.S.) and Abby Wright (Sarasota, Fla./Pendleton H.S.) 8-0 at number one doubles while Natali Jaimes and Cam Thompson topped Stephanie York (Elkhart, Ind./Jimtown H.S.) and Jackie O’Reilly (Green Bay, Wis./DePere H.S.) at the third spot by the same score. Gabriella Bobrowski and Brittany Farmer were 8-4 winners against Katie Bilyeu (Terre Haute, Ind./South Vigo H.S.) and Camill Burden (Richmond, Ind./Richmond H.S.) at the second spot.
The Bulldogs then won all six singles matches in straight sets. Jaimes was a 6-0, 6-0 victor at number one while Bobrowski beat Brittany O’Reilly by the same score at two. Casperson also won 6-0, 6-0 against Bilyeu at the third spot while Thompson topped York 6-3, 6-0 at number four singles. Farmer was a 6-0, 6-0 winner against Jackie O’Reilly at number five singles and Kahfii King downed Christine Antrobus (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead H.S.) 6-4, 6-0 at the bottom of the order.
Valparaiso’s season comes to a close 0-15 overall and 0-8 in Horizon League action.
