Several PRs Fall on Final Day at Meyo
Ignacio Veloz Bonilla cracked the program's all-time top five in the indoor mile on Saturday.

The Valparaiso University track & field program wrapped up a solid weekend of competition at the Meyo Invitational, hosted by the University of Notre Dame. The Beacons had several individuals author new personal records on Saturday, including Ignacio Veloz Bonilla (San Juan, P.R. / American Military Academy) garnering a place in the program record book.

How It Happened

  • Veloz Bonilla’s PR of 4:14.10 in the men’s indoor mile allowed him to jump into the program’s all-time top five in that event. He bounced Aaron Crague’s 2000 time of 4:15.38 from the top five.
  • Elsewhere in the distance, Maranda Donahue (Delton, Mich. / Delton-Kellogg) PR’d in the women’s mile at 5:11.60.
  • In the throws, Will Rinker (Valparaiso, Ind. / Chesterton) turned in a men’s weight throw of 15.00m (49-2.5), while Tori Gerhardt (Westville, Ind. / Chesterton) achieved her personal best by tossing 15.67m (51-5) in the weight, placing 17th in the event.
  • In the men’s 400, Anthony Vassolo (Tinley Park, Ill. / Andrew) achieved a PR of his own, stopping the clock in 51.73.
