The Valparaiso University Department of Athletics has announced results from a successful Valpo Day, which took place on Tuesday, April 9.

The department raised $97,312 and secured $40,000 in challenge funding. A total of 942 individuals gave to Valpo Athletics on the day. In addition to raising funds, Valpo Day was an opportunity for alumni and supporters to celebrate why they are “proud to be Valpo” on social media. The department’s official X, Instagram and Facebook accounts garnered 71,783 impressions and made 38 posts on the day. In total, Valparaiso University raised $1,180,365 from 2,587 donors including 437 first-time donors.

“I would like to thank everyone who showed support for our student-athletes by making a gift on Valpo Day,” Interim Director of Athletics Laurel Hosmer said. “Funds raised on Valpo Day allow us to achieve the bandwidth of excellence we strive for in the Athletics Department in supporting each of our 19 varsity programs. The generosity of our Valpo family near and far plays an important role in ensuring our student-athletes’ success in the classroom, in competition and in life after graduation.”
