2023: Played in all 11 games... Led the PFL, ranked 13th nationally and tied for third in program history with a single-season punting average of 43.2... Had 50 punts totaling 2,159 yards with 10 boots of 50+ yards and 20 pinned inside the 20... Went 2-for-2 passing for 42 yards, converting a pair of fake punts... Named PFL Special Teams Player of the Week after the Nov. 4 game vs. Dayton, when he had seven punts for an average of 41.7 yards per punt, pinning five inside the 20 with a long of 53... His longest punt of the season came in the Aug. 31 season opener at Youngstown State, when he boomed one 70 yards... Named an FCS National Punter of the Year Semifinalist, All-PFL First Team, Academic All-PFL First Team, Phil Steele All-PFL First Team and team Special Teams Player of the Year... Took part in the FCS Bowl. 

2022: Appeared in all 12 games... Ranked second in the league in punting average at 41.38 yards per punt... Named to the All-PFL Second Team, the Phil Steele All-PFL Second Team and was tabbed the team’s Special Teams Player of the Year... Had 57 punts totaling 2,360 yards, averaging 41.4 yards per punt while booming 10 kicks 50+ yards and pinning 22 inside the 20... Averaged 48.1 yards per punt including a long of 61 in the Sept. 3 season opener vs. Indiana Wesleyan... Drilled a 67-yard punt on Sept. 24 vs. San Diego, tied for the longest in the PFL all season.

West Virginia (2018-2021): Member of Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll and Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll... Did not see game action.

Prep: Two-year varsity letter winner... Second Team 6A All-state punter... Earned all-region and all-district first team honors... Part of a senior class that led South Lakes to an 11-2 record and advanced to the quarterfinals of the state championship... Also competed in four years of swimming and diving.

Personal: Pursuing a master’s in sports administration... Son of Verlyn and Marina Matthes... Has three brothers, Connor, Brett and Garrett... Left handed and left footed... Hobbies include traveling.
