Crusaders Blanked at Shocker Invitational

Valparaiso fell in a pair of games at the Shocker Invitational on Friday morning in Wichita, Kan. The Crusaders lost 2-0 to Texas Tech and 8-0 to #18 Nebraska.

In the opener, the Red Raiders scored a pair of runs in the second on a homerun by Natalie Kula and it held up. Chris Halstead went the distance in the circle for the Crusaders, striking out two and scattering seven hits. Sarah Losleban earned the win for Texas Tech (9-8), striking out nine in five innings.

Against the Cornhuskers, Nebraska (12-5) scored three in the fourth and four in the sixth on the way to the shutout victory. Megan Carroll went 2-for-2 for the Crusaders.

Valpo (0-10) will look for its first win of the season on Saturday as the Crusaders face UMKC and Wichita State.
