Monday, March 13, 2006
Crusader junior Megan Carroll (Eaton Rapids, Mich./Eaton Rapids) has been named the Mid-Continent Conference's Player of the Week after leading the Brown and Gold to five wins at the Rebel Spring Games in Orlando, Fla.

Carroll batted .488 in 12 games last week, recording a base hit in 10 straight games over that span. Valpo's rightfielder and leadoff batter, Carroll had seven multi-hit games, slugged four doubles and three triples, drove in three runs, scored 10 more, and went 8-for-8 in stolen bases. Carroll is the Mid-Con's leading batter through the young season, carrying a .489 batting average and a .723 slugging percentage.

The junior led the Crusaders in batting last season with a .303 mark that included a school-record 13 doubles. With five more two-base hits this season, Carroll now has 21 career doubles, fifth most all-time. This is the first Mid-Con Player of the Week honor of Carroll's career.

The Crusaders return to action March 22 in West Lafayette, Ind. against Big Ten foe Purdue. The two teams begin a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. with live coverage available online at www.sportsjuice.com.
