Freshman outfielder/pitcher Jill Jacobson (Beecher, Ill./Beecher) has been named the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week after her outstanding performance in her first career start in the circle last week against Holy Cross.

Jacobson, who did not pitch in high school after her sophomore year, dominated Holy Cross, throwing a three-hit shutout to earn her first collegiate victory.  The freshman struck out eight batters while walking only two, and allowed just two runners into scoring position on the game.  Jacobson has now pitched the first eight innings of her career without giving up a run.
