Four different players scored in double figures for Valparaiso on Monday evening and the Crusaders wrapped up the road portion of the 2006-2007 regular season with a 65-54 victory over IUPUI in Indianapolis, Ind.

Playing in front of Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels in the state's capital, Betsy Rietema (Grand Rapids, Mich./Christian H.S.) led the way with 17 points while Carrie Myers (Stickleyville, Va./Lee H.S.) added five triples for 15 points.

Valpo took the lead from the get go and never trailed, scoring the game's first six points. After IUPUI tied the contest, the Crusaders went on a 12-4 run to build an 18-10 advantage midway through the first half following a pair of Myers threes.

Another 10-2 run by the Crusaders pushed the lead to 13, 32-19, with just under four minutes to play before intermission. The Jaguars closed the half scoring the final six points, closing to within 32-25 at the break.

Valpo hit six three-pointers in the first half, shooting 55% from beyond the arc in helping build its halftime advantage.

IUPUI cut the Crusader edge to four right out of the locker room before Valpo went on an 11-2 run to build the lead back up to 13, 47-34, with 13 minutes to play. Tamra Braun (Savage, Minn./Prior Lake H.S.) scored inside three times during the spurt while Myers drained another triple.

Myers drained a triple and Rietema hit another as the shot clock wound down to give the Brown and Gold a 59-48 lead at the 2:36 mark.

Rietema made six free throws down the stretch to secure the victory. The senior went a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line on the night, becoming just the fifth player in Crusader history to register a perfect night with a minimum of 10 attempts.

Braun added 14 points and a game high seven rebounds for the Crusaders while Agnieszka Kulaga (Tarnow, Poland/I Liceum Ogolnoksztalcace H.S.) added 11 points, six rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
