Bowling Continues Columbia 300 Saints Invitational Saturday
Mirica Yancey rolled a career-best 258 for Valpo's top individual game of the day.

The #RV Valparaiso University bowling team continued action from the Columbia 300 Saints Invitational in Chesterfield, Mo. on Saturday, winning a pair of traditional team matches on the second of three days of competition.

How It Happened

  • Valpo opened the traditional team matches against Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday and came away with an 894-838 win in the opener, led by an effort of 203 from sophomore Sam Perez (Aurora, Ill./Oswego East).
  • Sophomore Mirica Yancey (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) rolled a career-best game of 258 – Valpo’s highest individual game of the day – in the Brown and Gold’s second match of the day, leading Valpo to a narrow 986-971 win over host #22 Maryville. Sophomore Payton Bertermann (Grayslake, Ill./North) rolled a 192 in the win as well.
  • While Valpo opened the day with back-to-back victories, the final three matches of the day went the way of the opposition. Lewis defeated Valpo 943-837 despite a 200 game from Perez, and #12 UW-Whitewater earned a 1026-937 win over Valpo despite a 208 by junior Becky Lohse (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton). The day concluded with Valpo falling to #24 Central Missouri 1070-843.
  • Valpo ended the day in eighth position in the team standings with 9,155 total pins through two days of action.
