Another day, another winning record on the lanes for the #17 Valpo bowling team on Friday, as the Beacons posted three victories on the opening day of action from the Vanderbilt Music City Classic in Smyrna, Tenn.

How It Happened

  • Valpo opened the day, contested in the five-game baker format, against #20 McKendree and got the tournament started on a winning note with an 844-738 victory.
  • The Beacons fell to #7 Louisiana Tech, 882-850, in the second match slot and dropped a 1028-853 decision to #3 Youngstown State in their next contest.
  • Valpo rebounded with a 927-814 victory over Prairie View A&M in the fourth match slot to even its record on the day.
  • The Beacons finished with back-to-back wins, earning a 907-807 win over Carthage to close the day.
  • With a 3-2 record on the day, Valpo posted its ninth winning record in 10 days of competition in the spring semester.
  • The Beacons finished the day in 21st place out of 33 competing teams in the team standings, with a total pinfall through five games of 4,381 pins.
