The Valpo bowling team opened up its final tournament of the fall semester Friday in Kenosha, Wis., earning a pair of wins on the first day of action at the MOTIV Ladyjack Classic.

How It Happened

• Valpo kicked off the day, contested in the five-game baker format, against #RV Lewis and got the tournament off to a winning start, taking down the Flyers by a 950-922 final.
• The Beacons ran into a buzzsaw in the second match slot, falling 1101-921 to #2 Arkansas State.
• The third match slot brought a 967-888 loss to #22 Tulane, followed by a 1016-941 defeat against #5 Stephen F. Austin.
• Valpo closed the day on a winning note, besting #20 UW-Whitewater, 971-953.
• The Beacons ended the day in 10^th place out of 16 competing teams with a total pinfall of 4,671 pins through five matches, just five pins out of ninth.
