2016-17: As a rookie, Tara moved herself into the top-ten list in three different races for the Crusaders. Her 100-back time of 59.42 was fast enough for fifth-best all-time and second-best on the team. In the 200-back, she made her way up to sixth all-time, with a time of 2:12.98 which was the best on the squad. With a time of 2:15.49, she moved into ninth in the record book in the 200-IM. That was also the top time on the team. Tara contributed to the backstroke leg of both the 200- and 400-medley relays at the Horizon League Championships. The 200-medley relay finished with a time of 1:47.10, which moves it into third all-time in Valpo history. With a total time of 4:01.50 in the 400-medley relay, she helped make it the fifth-fastest all-time.
