Head coach Landon Fox has announced five additions to his coaching staff as the team gears up for the upcoming spring practice schedule. Andrew Prevost has joined the staff as offensive line coach, while Damien Ross has been tabbed the team’s wide receivers coach. In addition, Jackson Smith has returned to the staff in an assistant coaching capacity, while Trevor McConnell and Owen Chandler will handle quality control.

Football Recognizes Seniors During Frigid Finale
The Valparaiso University football program recognized 24 seniors prior to Saturday’s season finale, a 24-0 setback to visiting Drake at Brown Field. The game was played in less than ideal conditions as frigid temperatures and sporadic snowfall created a challenging environment. Valpo finished the season with a .500 record in Pioneer Football League play, the third straight season that the team has finished .500 or better in league action.

The Beacons picked up the program’s first ever win at Marist, beating the Red Foxes for just the second time in 11 all-time matchups. Aaron Dawson (Westbury, N.Y. / W.T. Offense Explodes as Football Secures First Win at Morehead State Since 2006
The Valparaiso University football program faced adversity time and time again on Saturday afternoon at Jayne Stadium in Morehead, Ky., but each time the team had a response. In many cases, that response was Aaron Dawson (Westbury, N.Y. / W.T. Clarke / Milford Prep [Central Connecticut]), who ran for 241 yards as part of 574 yards of total offense in a stressful yet thrilling 40-35 road win at Morehead State. The victory kept Valpo in the Pioneer Football League title mix and snapped a seven-game road losing streak in the head-to-head series with the Eagles that dated back to 2006.

After a bye week filled with both practice time and rest, the Valparaiso University football team will return to the gridiron this week by heading to Clinton, S.C. for a Pioneer Football League clash with Presbyterian. This will mark Valpo’s first visit to Presbyterian, which officially joined the PFL prior to the Fall 2021 season after also competing in a PFL schedule in Spring 2021. The Blue Hose were previously members of the scholarship Big South Conference before transitioning to nonscholarship football.
