Scott Lange

"Valpo's quarterback during the early-to-mid 1980s, Lange provided the arm for the Crusaders' explosive passing attack during that era. After taking over as the starting quarterback midway through his sophomore season in 1983, he set then-school career records for passing yards and total offense.

Currently 2nd on Valpo's all-time passing list with 6,674 yards, Lange held the top spot for 18 years. He also tossed 51 touchdown passes, which also stands second in school history. Lange, who threw most of the passes caught by 2004 Hall of Fame inductees Dan Bogar and Mike Healey, still holds Valpo career records for passes completed (600) and attempted (1,181).

Lange had an exceptional year in 1985, earning First Team All-Heartland Conference honors as a senior. In helping the Crusaders to a 6-4 record, he passed for 1,093 yards and 11 touchdowns. As a junior, Lange compiled 1,861 passing yards and 13 touchdowns, the last season Bogar and Healey played together. The year before, he passed for 1,553 yards and 14 touchdowns. Following the 1983 and 1984 campaigns, Lange was accorded honorable mention All-Heartland recognition.

Currently ranking 3rd on Valpo's all-time total offense list (6,097), Lange continues to hold or share single-game records for touchdown passes (5) and passes attempted (59).

Lange also played baseball for two seasons at Valpo. He was a member of the 1985 team that holds the school record for wins (35). A pitcher, Lange hurled 101 innings in his career.
