Beyond his duties at Muskegon, Rykse spent the 2012-2013 season as the head coach of the Inside Out Juniors 17-1 team.  He also previously served as videographer and statistican at Davenport University from 2006-2009, and spent his high school years as a team manager at Ravenna H.S.

Rykse is a 2012 graduate of Michigan State University, and will pursue his master's in sports administration at Valparaiso.  While at MSU, he competed on the nationally-ranked club volleyball team for four years.
