Dorow Announces Addition of Rees to Coaching Staff
Head women's basketball coach Tracey Dorow announced the hiring of Justin Rees to the Valparaiso University women’s program Monday. Rees arrives in Valpo after serving as head coach of the Missouri Valley College Lady Vikings during the 2013-2014 campaign.

For the third straight season, the Horizon League Conference Tournament takes Valpo to Green Bay, Wisconsin for a postseason tilt with the Phoenix. The Crusaders have their work cut out from them as the Phoenix have lost just once in 19 HL Tournament quarterfinal games.

Senior recorded a career-high 25 points as her 9-of-16 shooting staved off a second-half, Senee Shearer-led comeback attempt. Crusaders advance to the quarterfinal round of the HL Tournament where they'll meet the #1-seeded Green Bay Phoenix (20-8, 13-3) Wednesday night at 7:00 pm at the Kress Events Center in Green Bay, Wis.

Sharon Karungi's 90% (9-for-10 FG) shooting percentage was just one of a handful of offensive watermarks met or set in Valpo's 101-80 loss to Wright State Saturday in Dayton. As a team, the Crusaders shot 59.6%, the seventh-highest percentage in program history.

Valparaiso wraps up the regular season slate with a Saturday matinee against the Raiders in Dayton. A win and a Detroit loss Saturday would mean Valpo hosts the Titans Monday night at the ARC. For the Crusaders to hold up their end of the bargain, they'll have to win inside the Nutter Center for the first time since January 27th, 1994.

Charae Richardson dropped in a career-high 24 points in what was potentially her final game at the ARC Wednesday night in Valpo's 94-80 shootout win over Milwaukee. Karungi added 23 of her own on 11-of-14 shooting from the floor.

Valparaiso plays its final home game of the season Wednesday evening when the Milwaukee Panthers come to town for a 7:05 pm tip. The Crusaders are currently a game back of Detroit and two behind Milwaukee in the standings. Paul Oren and Renee Turpa will have the call on WVUR 95.1 FM.

Valpo held a lead against the Phoenix as late as the 3:00 mark of the second half, but Green Bay closed with six of the game's final eight points in a nailbiter at the Athletics-Recreation Center. Sharon Karungi tallied her third straight double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
