Five home matches during the first four weeks of the season and a trip to California mark the highlights of the 2012 Valparaiso University women’s soccer schedule which has been announced by head coach John Marovich.

Valparaiso University head women’s soccer coach John Marovich has announced the signing of eight players to National Letters of Intent. Joining the Crusaders in the fall of 2012 are Taylor Colliau, Rita Craven, Sabrina DeNard, Jenny Fassbinder, Sarrah Ludwig, Shelby Oelschlager, Jordyn Ryfiak, and Sarah Silvasi.

Two halves and two overtimes were not enough to settle the Horizon League quarterfinals on Tuesday afternoon, and after eight rounds of penalty kicks Butler defeated Valparaiso 5-4 in the shootout at Eastgate Field after the two sides played to a 2-2 draw through 110 minutes.

The 2011 Horizon League Championships begin on Tuesday afternoon at Eastgate Field. The third-seeded Valparaiso Crusaders host the sixth-seeded Butler Bulldogs, the Brown and Gold’s longtime instate rival, in the quarterfinals. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
