Stephen Anthony was promoted to senior associate director of athletics for finance and administration in October 2016.

Anthony had served as the associate director of athletics for business services since January of 2008, following a 10-year stint as head coach of the Crusader women's soccer team.  Anthony also spent one season as head coach of the Valparaiso bowling program, helping to start the team and lead it through its inaugural season.

In his role, Anthony is responsible for the management of the athletics department’s business operations, including supervision of ticket operations.  Anthony is also the sport administrator for women’s golf, women’s tennis, softball and bowling.

Anthony led the Crusader bowling team in its first season of competition in 2009-2010, bringing in the initial recruiting class of student-athletes, including three-time All-American Natalie Cortese.  In their debut season, the Crusaders amassed a 68-46 record and finished the season ranked 10th nationally. Anthony handed over the reins of the bowling program following its debut season to focus on his administrative role.

Anthony spent 10 seasons (1998-2007) as the head coach of the Valparaiso women's soccer program, setting a program record with 78 victories.  A three-time Mid-Continent Conference Coach of the Year, Anthony guided the Crusaders to a pair of Mid-Con regular season championships and led Valpo to the Mid-Con tournament crown in 2005, resulting in the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament berth.

Prior to being named head coach at Valpo, Anthony was the head men's soccer coach at Northeastern Illinois University for one season, the final year of varsity competition at the school. He also served as the head women's club soccer coach at DePaul University from 1990-1996.

Anthony played collegiate soccer at DePaul from 1984-1988, becoming the school's first four-year player.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in commerce from DePaul in 1988 and earned his Master of Science in management of public services from the school in 1990. Anthony finished a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies degree in sports management at Valparaiso University in 2003.

Anthony and his wife, Jamie, have been married since 1989, and have one son, Tucker, born in 1998.
