After winning a season-opening series for the first time since 2009, Valparaiso heads south this weekend for a three-game series against fourth-ranked Arkansas. Arkansas enters Wednesday’s game against Northwestern State a perfect 4-0 on the year and is averaging more than 7,000 fans per game this year at home.

Darkness was the only winner on Friday afternoon at Reagan Field in Murray, Ky. as Valparaiso and Murray State battled for 12 innings only to remain in a 2-2 deadlock.

After finishing runner-up in the Horizon League Tournament one year ago, Valparaiso returns to the diamond this weekend to open the 2012 campaign with a three-game series at Murray State. The Crusaders look to get off to a quick start on the road, as the Brown and Gold will be away from home for 19 straight games to open the year.

After finishing second in the 2011 Horizon League Tournament, the Valparaiso University baseball team takes to the diamond in 2012 looking to take the next step in moving towards the top of the conference. The Crusaders will look for their first conference title since winning the Heartland Collegiate Conference in 1982 while trying to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1976.

One of the top outfielders ever to play baseball at Valparaiso University, Russ Steinbeck helped to lead the Crusaders to a pair of Indiana Collegiate Conference championships as well as two NCAA Tournament berths during his career with the Brown and Gold, and on Saturday, February 4, he will be inducted into the Valparaiso University Athletics Hall of Fame.

Valparaiso University head baseball coach Tracy Woodson will be inducted into the North Carolina State University Baseball Hall of Fame as part of the 2012 First Pitch Banquet held on Feb. 16 in Raleigh, N.C.

Valparaiso University baseball program has posted a combined grade point average of 3.09 for the 2011 fall semester head coach Tracy Woodson has announced. Twenty of the 33 team members achieved a semester GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Valparaiso University head baseball coach Tracy Woodson has announced the addition of nine student-athletes that make up the 2012 recruiting class. Joining the Crusader for the 2013 season are Aaron Collins, Jeff Edwards, Ellis Foreman, Jacob Hanson, Drew Hasler, Andrew Hjellming, Scott Jerge, Blayten Magana, and Bryce Yoder.
