Freshman Claire Johnson (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) paced the Crusader pack for the first time in her career as the Valparaiso women's cross country team finished in 17th place Friday afternoon at the Notre Dame Invitational in Notre Dame, Ind.


Crusader Women Compete Friday at Spartan Invitational

The Valparaiso women's cross country team took to the course for the second time this season on Friday afternoon, competing at the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Mich. Fifth-year senior Whitney Bowman (Portage, Ind./Portage [Purdue]) paced the Crusader runners.


Crusader Women Open Season With Third-Place Finish

The Valparaiso women's cross country team kicked off the 2010 season Friday at Sunset Hills Farm with the Crusader Open for the 17th straight year, finishing in third place among the five competing teams. Freshman Grace Shemwell (Clinton, Iowa/Clinton) led the Crusaders in her first collegiate race.


Crusader Women's Squad Set for 2010

It is a youthful and small squad that will hit the course for the 2010 Valparaiso women's cross country season, as the Crusaders have just eight runners, including just two upperclassmen. But head coach Mike Straubel has confidence in his squad's ability to come together as a unit as the team looks to move up the Horizon League standings this season.

Four races within the state of Indiana, including the season-opening Crusader Open at Sunset Hills Farm, will prepare the Valparaiso cross country teams for the Horizon League Championships as head coach Mike Straubel announced the Crusaders' 2010 schedule today.
