Women’s Golf Improves Scores in Sunshine State

The Valparaiso University women’s golf team continued its spring-opening tournament on Monday by golfing the middle round of the 54-hole Lady Bison Bay Point Classic at the par-72, 5971-yard Bay Point Golf Club in Panama City Beach, Fla. Madison Keil (LaGrange, Ind. / Lakeland) is the top Beacon in the event, which is being hosted by Lipscomb.

How It Happened

  • Keil made a six-stroke improvement on her Round-1 score by golfing an 82 on Monday. She moved up to t-60 in the 85-player field.
  • Valpo’s next best score came from Kelsey Eichenauer (North Manchester, Ind.), who carded an 84 and now sits at t-65.
  • All five Valpo golfers improved on their scores from Sunday’s opening round.
  • As a team, Valpo improved its Round-1 score of 361 with a 339 in Monday’s second round. The Beacons outdid Bethune-Cookman by three strokes in Round 2.
  • Host Lipscomb sits atop the team leaderboard at +23 over 36 holes, while Dayton’s Sarah Frazier and Siarra Stout are tied for the top spot on the player leaderboard at +1.
  • Valpo has 10 birdies, led by Eichenauer with four.
