The Valparaiso University women’s golf team finished out Northern Kentucky’s The Julie at Elks Run Golf Course in Batavia, Ohio on Tuesday. Katie Schreiner (Fenton, Mo. / Summit) tied for Valpo’s best round of the season.

How It Happened

  • Schreiner posted a 73 (+1), tied for the best round by a Beacon this season. She matched Madison Keil’s third round at the Brittany Kelly Classic for the team’s best score in relation to par in 2023-24.
  • Schreiner’s score tied for the eighth best in program history in terms of overall score and seventh best in relation to par. She matched her career and season best of 73, which was set in the second round of this year’s Butler Fall Invitational.
  • Schreiner had three birdies in the round and was par or better on 14 of her 18 holes.
  • She finished the tournament at t-17 of 80, her third top-20 finish of the year. She boasted a 36-hole score of 154 (+10).
  • Valpo’s second-best score in the round came from Roslyn Leitner (Dundee, Ill. / Harry Jacobs), who stroked an 81.
  • The team’s second-best tournament scores came from Madison Keil (LaGrange, Ind. / Lakeland) and Anna Fay (Ada, Mich. / Forest Hills), who both finished the tournament at 166 (+22), tied for 56th, after carding 83s on Tuesday.
  • Valpo moved up on the team leaderboard in the final day of action, finishing with a 36-hole score of 655 to place 10th of 13. The Beacons outdid Eastern Illinois, Southern Indiana and Thomas More.
  • Purdue Fort Wayne won the team title, while Kaitlin Kormuth of Cleveland State won medalist honors at 145.
