"One of the top tennis players all-time in Crusader history, Nathan Buckert was a fixture among the best players in the Mid-Continent Conference during his career.

Arriving at Valpo as a walk-on, he earned First Team All-Conference honors three times during his career with the Brown and Gold from 2000-2002. During his final season with the Brown and Gold, he was named Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Year after not dropping a league match all season.

He won 116 total matches in four years with the Crusaders, including 56 singles contests. He notched a 22-2 singles mark during Mid-Continent Conference competition over the course of his career. Buckert was a team captain as well as the team's Most Valuable Player during his senior season, when he helped to lead Valparaiso to the 2002 Mid-Continent Conference regular season title, the first in school history.

He is currently employed by SK Hand Tools as a market project leader and product development.
