Valparaiso University's Matt Gillikin (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) has been named the Mid-Continent Conference Pitcher of the Week after throwing a three-hit shutout against Chicago State on Sunday afternoon.

The Crusader right-hander walked just one batter while striking out five and holding Cougar hitters to just a .120 batting average while helping the Crusaders complete a four-game sweep of Chicago State. The victory was also his first of the season. For the year, the senior is 1-3 with a 4.71 earned run average.
