Valparaiso University Director of Athletics Mark LaBarbera has announced the hiring of Miriam McGeath as the head coach of the Crusader men’s and women’s swim programs, effective Dec. 4.

Sophomore Harrison Jenny (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) highlighted the competition for the Crusaders with a win in the 100-freestyle.
The Valparaiso University women’s swimming team took down Rose-Hulman Saturday evening by a score of 160-122, while the men fell to the Fightin’ Engineers 201-93 in Terre Haute, Ind. The women were victorious in 11 different events, and the men won four.

Sophomore Paige Wright (Surprise, Ariz./Paradise Honors) led Valpo with a team-best sixth-place finish in the 100-free for the women. Junior Dylan Kirar (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley) came in seventh place in the 200-IM, the best finish for the Crusader men.

After a strong showing this past weekend against Eastern Illinois, Valparaiso University junior Dylan Kirar (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley) was chosen as The Summit League Men’s Swimmer of the Week. Kirar made a big splash at the ARC on Saturday by winning two individual events against the Panthers.

Kirar and junior classmate Bob Bretl (Wauwatosa, Wis./Marquette University H.S.) both moved up the Valpo all-time top-ten list in the 1000-free.
