"Tracy Gibson was the foundation of the men's basketball program just prior to the current era of conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances.

A 5'10" guard and four-year starter, he was one of the most productive players to wear a Crusader uniform, ranking among the top 10 in seven statistical categories. As a senior in 1993, Tracy averaged 21.3 points and became the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,785 points. He held the top spot until Bryce Drew surpassed the mark in 1997. He earned First Team All-Mid-Continent Conference honors in 1993 after being named Second Team All-Mid-Con as a sophomore and junior.

As a freshman, Tracy was selected to the Mid-Con All-Newcomer Team. Entering the 2001-02 season, he ranked 9th on the Mid-Con's all-time scoring list. Valpo's all-time leader in field goal attempts (1,570), he stands third all-time in Mid-Con history. Gipson also ranks among the conference's all-time leaders in minutes played (4th, 3,793), games started (9th, 101) and field goals made (10th, 682). On Valpo's all-time lists he is second in field goals made, seventh in steals (138), sixth in free throws made (327), eighth in free throw attempts (415) and ninth in assists (316).
