Women’s Golf Closes Season with Final Round of MVC Championship
The Valparaiso University women’s golf team completed the first year of Jill McCoy’s head coaching tenure on Tuesday with the third and final round of the Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Golf Championship. The event was hosted by Valpo as the 10 conference teams played 54 holes this week at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton.

Women’s Golf Hosts Day 1 of MVC Championship
The first Missouri Valley Conference Championship hosted by Valparaiso University in any sport began on Monday as the conference’s 10 women’s golf programs completed the first two rounds of the 2019 Championship at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton. The first round was slated to occur on Sunday, but was pushed back due to inclement weather. The course recovered nicely from Sunday’s rain and snow, and the temperature was 40 degrees as the morning round teed off and reached the mid-50s by the afternoon hours.

The Valparaiso University women’s golf team completed its final tune-up prior to hosting the Missouri Valley Conference Championship on Monday with the final round of the Indiana State Spring Invite. Freshman Payton Hodson (Middleton, Wis. / Middleton) led her team in Monday’s round.

Women’s Golf Enjoys Best Round of Season on Sunday
The Valparaiso University women’s golf team completed the first 18 holes of the Indiana State Spring Invite on Sunday in Terre Haute. This marks the team’s final event prior to the Missouri Valley Conference Championship, which Valpo will host next week. The team turned in its best round of the season on Sunday.

Valpo Adds Two to Incoming Recruiting Class
Valparaiso University head women’s golf coach Jill McCoy has announced the addition of a pair of incoming freshmen for the 2019-2020 academic and athletic year. Kelsey Eichenauer (North Manchester, Ind. / Manchester) and Maddison Murphy (Bloomington, Ill. / University) have both signed to continue their golf careers with Valpo’s program.

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s golf teams were slated to compete in the Bradley Spring Classic hosted at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill. this weekend. Wet course conditions and rain in the forecast have forced the cancellation of the tournament.

Shoemake, Krueger Continue to Lead Valpo on Final Day at Southern Illinois
Kylie Shoemake (Schererville, Ind. / Lake Central) and Kayla Krueger (Spring Lake, Mich. / Spring Lake) had the top two performances from members of the Valparaiso University women’s golf team for the second consecutive day on Monday. Shoemake carded an 81 to pace the team with Krueger one stroke behind in the second and final round of the Saluki Invite hosted by Southern Illinois at Hickory Ridge in Carbondale.

Valpo Returns to Action in Carbondale
The Valparaiso University women’s golf team resumed its spring season on Sunday with the first 18 holes of the Saluki Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois at Hickory Ridge. Kylie Shoemake (Schererville, Ind. / Lake Central) had the best round among Valpo golfers, while Kayla Krueger (Spring Lake, Mich. / Spring Lake) was one stroke off the pace set by her teammate.

Women’s Golf Finishes Out Motor City Cup
The Valparaiso University women’s golf team took part in the final day of the Motor City Cup on Tuesday at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The event featured a tournament-style, match-play format as Valpo finished a match with Creighton and played the final match of the event against Northern Kentucky.

The event features a tournament match-play format.

The Valparaiso University women’s golf team finished out the fall season on Tuesday with the final round of the Braun Intercollegiate in Evansville. Golfing as an individual, freshman Morgan Kier (Brownsburg, Ind. / Brownsburg) finished the fall in style, carding a team-best 78.

Women’s Golf Begins Final Fall Tournament
The Valparaiso University women’s golf team began the final tournament of the fall season on Monday with a visit to the Braun Intercollegiate hosted by fellow Missouri Valley Conference member Evansville. Valpo took a step forward by trimming 10 strokes from its best round at last week’s MVC Fall Preview. The two-day Braun event features only two rounds with 18 holes taking place each day.

For the first time this season, the Valparaiso University women’s golf team competed on its home course on Monday. In preparation for hosting the MVC Championship in April, Valpo welcomed eight fellow Missouri Valley Conference programs to Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton for the first 36 holes of the MVC Fall Preview.

Hodson Leads Team on Final Day of Loyola Fall Invitational
The Valparaiso University women’s golf team enjoyed its best round of the three-day Loyola Fall Invitational, turning in a team score of 318 to climb to seventh in the team standings on Tuesday. The final round of the event saw freshman Payton Hodson (Middleton, Wis. / Middleton) boast the best 18 holes of any Valpo player by turning in a 76.

Krueger Paces Valpo on Day 1 at Loyola
The Valparaiso University women’s golf team had its first 36-hole day of the year on Monday, competing in the first two rounds of the Loyola Fall Invitational at Flossmoor Country Club. Led by Kayla Krueger (Spring Lake, Mich. / Spring Lake), Valpo enters the final day of the tournament ahead of four teams in the standings including two former conference competitors.

The Valparaiso University women’s golf team has withdrawn from the Golfweek Program Challenge in Pawley’s Island, S.C., forgoing Tuesday’s final round in order to travel back to Indiana prior to the arrival of Hurricane Florence.

The Region’s Division I women’s golf team was led by a local student-athlete for the second consecutive day, as Tiffany Curtis (Crown Point, Ind. / Crown Point) paced Valparaiso at the Golfweek Program Challenge in Pawley’s Island, S.C. on Monday. Curtis now owns the overall team lead through two rounds.
