Women’s Golf Closes Season with Final Round of MVC Championship

The Valparaiso University women’s golf team completed the first year of Jill McCoy’s head coaching tenure on Tuesday with the third and final round of the Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Golf Championship. The event was hosted by Valpo as the 10 conference teams played 54 holes this week at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton.


Women’s Golf Hosts Day 1 of MVC Championship

The first Missouri Valley Conference Championship hosted by Valparaiso University in any sport began on Monday as the conference’s 10 women’s golf programs completed the first two rounds of the 2019 Championship at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton. The first round was slated to occur on Sunday, but was pushed back due to inclement weather. The course recovered nicely from Sunday’s rain and snow, and the temperature was 40 degrees as the morning round teed off and reached the mid-50s by the afternoon hours.

Valparaiso University head women’s golf coach Jill McCoy has announced the addition of a pair of incoming freshmen for the 2019-2020 academic and athletic year. Kelsey Eichenauer (North Manchester, Ind. / Manchester) and Maddison Murphy (Bloomington, Ill. / University) have both signed to continue their golf careers with Valpo’s program.

Shoemake, Krueger Continue to Lead Valpo on Final Day at Southern Illinois

Kylie Shoemake (Schererville, Ind. / Lake Central) and Kayla Krueger (Spring Lake, Mich. / Spring Lake) had the top two performances from members of the Valparaiso University women’s golf team for the second consecutive day on Monday. Shoemake carded an 81 to pace the team with Krueger one stroke behind in the second and final round of the Saluki Invite hosted by Southern Illinois at Hickory Ridge in Carbondale.

The Valparaiso University women’s golf team resumed its spring season on Sunday with the first 18 holes of the Saluki Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois at Hickory Ridge. Kylie Shoemake (Schererville, Ind. / Lake Central) had the best round among Valpo golfers, while Kayla Krueger (Spring Lake, Mich. / Spring Lake) was one stroke off the pace set by her teammate.

The Valparaiso University women’s golf team took part in the final day of the Motor City Cup on Tuesday at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
