"One of the most nationally decorated athletes to graduate from Valparaiso, Patty Cisneros has taken her wheelchair basketball game world wide.

A member of the United States' 2004 Paralympic team in Athens, Greece, Cisneros helped the Americans to a 56-44 victory over Australia in the gold medal match. The gold medal contest was a rematch of an opening round game which saw the Americans fall to Australia to begin play.

Cisneros also was a member of the U.S. team that earned the silver medal in the 2002 World Championships and competed in Sydney, Australia, in the Paralympic Games in 2000. She also helped lead the United States to the gold medal in the Gold Cup qualifying Games in Brazil in 2002.

While earning her Master's degree from the University of Illinois, Cisneros was a member of their women's wheelchair basketball team that won two straight national championships.
