"One of the fastest distance runners in Valparaiso history, LeRoy Schramm is one of the most decorated athletes to ever compete in a Crusader uniform.

Schramm led Valpo to three NCAA cross country championships in the College Division and helped the Brown and Gold finish fourth, seventh, and third in his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons respectively. Valpo's top runner at nationals as a sophomore and junior, his best overall finish came in 1963 when he placed in the top-25 in the nation.

An Indiana Collegiate Conference and Indiana Little State individual champion in cross country, he also excelled on the oval. In track and field, Schramm was an ICC and Little State champion in the mile as well in the two mile.
