Adam Piotrowicz

Adam Piotrowicz joined the Valparaiso University baseball coaching staff in the fall of 2010 after coaching two seasons at Heidelberg University.  With the Crusaders, Piotrowicz mainly works with the hitters, catchers, and outfielders.

In his second year on the Crusader staff, Piotrowicz helped the Crusaders to their first Horizon League regular season and tournament titles, and a berth in the NCAA Division I Tournament for the first time since 1968.  Valpo tied the school record with 35 victories in 2012 as well.

Crusader hitters excelled in 2012.  The team ranked 35th in the country in hits with 618, were third in the nation with 86 sacrifice bunts, and 42nd nationally with 29 sacrifice flies, providing an all-around offensive attack.

In 2011, Piotrowicz’s first season on staff, he helped guide the Crusaders to the Horizon League Tournament championship game.

In two years with the Crusaders, nine hitters have earned All-Horizon League honors, including a pair of First Team selections and seven Second Team honors.  In addition, five more position players have been named to the league’s All-Newcomer Team along with eight offensive representatives on the All-Tournament Team, including 2012 Most Valuable Player Mark Johnson.

At Heidelberg, Piotrowicz was the hitting and catching coach.  In addition, his primary duties included recruiting and designing a strength and agility program.   The Heidelberg baseball program finished fourth at the 2010 NCAA DIII World Series and in the past two years has won the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season and conference tournament titles.  Additionally, Heidelberg was a participant in the NCAA DIII Mideast Regional in 2009 and 2010.  Under Piotrowicz guidance, Heidelberg’s offense set nine school records and led the conference in numerous offensive categories.  In addition, five of Heidelberg’s position players received DIII All-American honors.

In 2010 Piotrowicz was the head coach for the Ty Cobb Reds in the Great South Summer Collegiate League, guiding the team to a third place finish.

As a player, Piotrowicz was a stand out at Manchester College from 2005-2008.  As a senior in 2008, he was elected team captain and helped lead his team to a NCAA DIII Mideast Regional and Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championship.

He graduated from Manchester College in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business and earned a Masters degree in Education from Heidelberg University in 2010.
