Kyle Obenauf moves from the pitcher’s mound to the coaching staff for 2007, serving as the team’s student assistant.
A four-year letterwinner for the Brown and Gold, Obenauf had his finest season as a senior, when he posted a team-best 2.60 earned run average while striking out 26 and walking just 11 in 45 innings. During Mid-Continent Conference action, he made four starts with a 1-1 record, allowing opponents to hit just .235 against him.
As a senior Obenauf was named to the Mid-Continent Conference Second Team. He finished his career with 104 strikeouts and seven victories.
A three-time member of the Mid-Con’s All-Academic Team, Obenauf was named to the league’s Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence as a senior.
Obenauf graduated from Valparaiso in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in sports administration from the university.
