Brooke Krohley Joins Valpo Track & Field Coaching Staff

The Valparaiso University track and field coach Ryan Moore has announced an addition to his coaching staff as Brooke Krohley joins the program as a graduate assistant coach for the 2019-2020 season.


Four Valpo Athletes Earn MVC Track & Field Scholar-Athlete Honors

The Valparaiso University track and field teams had four athletes recognized by the Missouri Valley Conference as part of the league’s Scholar-Athlete Team, which was announced on Wednesday.


Rasawehr Earns All-MVC Honors; Rustmann Sets School Record

The Valparaiso University track and field teams finished their season on Sunday in Terre Haute, as Indiana State hosted Day 3 of the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships. Valpo’s success was most prevalent in the performances of junior thrower Jake Rasawehr (Celina, Ohio/Celina), who set a personal best, medaled and earned an additional season best while competing in three events for Valpo. By virtue of a top-3 finish in the discus, Rasawehr earned all-conference recognition.


Track & Field Competes During Day 2 of MVC Championships

The Valparaiso University track and field teams took to a slick track Saturday for Day 2 of the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships during a rainy day at Indiana State. The day was highlighted by two personal records in the 800- one each from Julia Rustmann (Grosse-Pointe, Mich./ Grosse Pointe North [Michigan State]) and Conner Hickey (Peru, Ill./ LaSalle-Peru) - as well as a PR by Zack Fortener (Byron, Ill./ Byron), who competed in the decathlon.


Track & Field Opens MVC Outdoor Championships

The Valparaiso University track and field teams kicked off the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships on Friday at Indiana State. Day 1 of the three-day meet was highlighted by Taylor Justison (Catham, Ill./Glenwood) setting a career best in the 400 and by the performance of Zack Fortener (Byron, Ill./ Byron), who competed in his first decathlon.

The Valparaiso University track and field teams continued their busy weekend of meets on Saturday with all of their competitors in Louisville for Day 2 of the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational. The teams were led by junior sprinter Sierra Fischer (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield (Carroll) - who bolstered her place in the Valpo record books - and sophomore jumper T.J. The Valparaiso University track and field teams will split their talents this weekend, sending some athletes to the Hillsdale College Relays in Hillsdale, Mich. while the rest compete at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Ky. The teams’ first day of action this weekend was highlighted by sophomore thrower Lauren Mikolaijczak (Bloomingdale, Ill./Montini Catholic) and senior jumper Malik Riley (Romeoville, Ill./Romeoville), each of whom set career bests.


Track and Field Turns in Strong Showing at Illinois

The Valparaiso University track and field team saw numerous individuals turn in standout performances on Saturday at the Twilight Invitational hosted by the University of Illinois in Champaign. Ben Sekuloski (Lowell, Ind. / Lowell), Bryce Otterbach (Mendota, Ill. / Mendota Township), Jake Rasawehr (Celina, Ohio / Celina), Jeremy Seiler (Angola, Ind. / Fremont) and Will Maidment (Woodstock, Ill. / Woodstock) were among the team’s Top 5 finishers, while Sierra Fischer (Brookfield, Wis. / Brookfield [Carrol]) entered the Top 5 in program history in a pair of events. Dominic Paoletti (Monroe, Mich. / Monroe St. Mary) also made his way into the program record book on Saturday.


Track & Field Achieves Multiple Career Marks in Terre Haute

The Valparaiso track and field squads fared well against stiff competition at the Gibson Invitational on Saturday at Indiana State. The teams were led by Hayley Krulik (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) – who set two personal records – and Jack Mader (Granger, Ind./Penn), who also achieved a personal best.

The Valparaiso University track and field teams started the outdoor season this weekend, splitting the squads between the Bill Cornell Spring Classic at Southern Illinois and the Polar Bear Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan. The squads were led by Julia Rustmann (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Point North (Michigan State), who set a personal best, and Dominic Paoletti (Monroe, Mich./Monroe St. Mary), who had a first-place finish, in the outdoor opener.

The Valparaiso University track & field teams capped off their indoor season at the University of Northern Iowa on Sunday. The teams were led by two triple jumpers, Anne Mou (Bloomingdale, Ill./Lake Park) and T.J. Weinzimmer (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North), who each set a new personal record in the event. During the two-day meet, Valpo athletes set 18 PRs and several more season bests.

Junior Jeremy Seiler (Angola, Ind./Fremont) took first in the pole vault, while senior Sydney Bronner (Frankenmuth, Mich./Frankenmuth) began her track & field career by earning a place in the record books.

Representatives from the Valparaiso University track & field teams headed to Notre Dame on Friday for the Meyo Invitational. The squads were led by junior pole vaulter Jeremy Seiler (Angola, Ind./Fremont) and the men’s distance medley team, each of whom recorded one of the best marks in program history in their events.

The Valparaiso University track & field teams returned to meet action for the first time since late November on Friday night, turning in impressive performances at Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich.
